Alternative Medical Care is a medical Florida marijuana clinic located in the greater Orlando area of Winter Park. Dr. Daniel Cohen is one of a small group of doctors licensed by the State of Florida. He is able to recommend a Florida medical marijuana card to qualified patients to treat a range of conditions, including cancer, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, HIV/AIDS, chronic pain, as well as many other debilitating conditions not listed specifically in Florida’s Amendment 2. Our goal is to provide our patients with the highest level of care and access to canabis as an alternative medical treatment, in an affordable manner.

The Florida Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative, also known as Amendment 2 (passed on November 8th, 2016), allows the recommendation and distribution of medical marijuana to eligible patients with qualifying medical conditions under the care of licensed physicians. The law details a list of specific conditions that qualify a patient in Florida

Step 2: Schedule A Consultation With Our MMJ Doctor
During your free pre-screening phone call with a member of our medical team, we will gather more information about your specific condition as well as provide details on what you will need to bring with you to your in-person exam with our physician and MMJ doctor, David Cohen, M.D.
Step 3: Complete Your In-Person Medical Exam
Meet with Dr. Cohen for an in-person medical exam which will last approximately 45 minutes. During the exam Dr. Cohen will discuss your diagnosis, symptoms, current or past treatments, and your options surrounding medical canabis. If you qualify, you will be provided with your MMJ recommendation.
Once the doctor determines this is a practical treatment option and makes a recommendation, you will be registered with the Compassionate Care Database. This immediately certifies your right to obtain medical cannabis in Florida. You will be sent an official medical cannabis card in the mail from the Compassionate Care Registry; however, you are not required to physically possess this card while visiting the dispensary.

Dr. Cohen is among the first physicians licensed in the state of Florida to recommend and treat patients with medical cannabis.
Dr. Cohen is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine. Dr. Cohen is an active member of the prestigious Society of Urologic Oncology. Dr. Cohen is a Urologic Oncologist within the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute and he is a member of the multidisciplinary genitourinary tumor board.
Dr. Cohen believes that the hallmark of good medicine is the development of a strong doctor-patient relationship based on trust and understanding. He will strive to deliver the highest quality of care in a conscientious an diligent manner to all of his patients.
